A massive fire broke out at the warehouse of Mahashakti Soap Factory located in the industrial area of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–8 late last night, causing extensive damage to stored goods. The warehouse, built adjacent to the main factory for storing finished soap products and raw materials, caught fire due to an electrical short circuit.

According to factory manager Prakash Budhathoki, the blaze destroyed all items kept inside the warehouse, including finished soaps, raw materials, and packaging supplies. “At this stage, it is not possible to determine the exact amount of loss,” Budhathoki said. “A detailed assessment can only be made after reviewing the inventory records. However, nothing inside the warehouse was saved—everything has been reduced to ashes.”

Preliminary estimates suggest that the financial damage could range between Rs 100 million and Rs 120 million. Budhathoki explained that the fire erupted suddenly around midnight, and although security agencies were immediately informed and efforts were made to control the flames, the fire spread rapidly and could not be contained in time, leading to severe losses.

Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson for the Makwanpur District Police Office, said that following the outbreak, two fire engines from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City were dispatched to the scene. A joint team of the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, along with residents, worked together to bring the fire under control.

No casualties have been reported in the incident. Authorities have initiated further investigation into the fire, while assessments are ongoing to determine the total extent of the damage.
