FinMin preparing draft of pension plan

KATHMANDU, NOV 14: 

The government is preparing a draft of social security pension plan.

“The Finance Ministry is planning to convert the existing allowance for senior citizens to social pension,” the ministry source said, adding that all the elder citizens will be eligible to receive pension, after the social security pension plan comes into effect.

“Only retired employees are receiving pension at present,” he said. “But the ministry is planning to distribute pension to all senior citizens.”

However, the ministry is also mulling to reduce cost of the government, he added. Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has started discussion with experts to implement the scheme, according to him.
