Finance Minister Janardan Sharma resigned as soon as the legislature established a special parliamentary committee to look into the claim of tax fraud by including unapproved individuals in the creation of the fiscal year 2079/80 budget.

A day before Finance Minister Janardan Sharma unveiled the federal budget for the fiscal year 2079/80, he attempted to take action against Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.

Finance Minister is accused of inviting unauthorized individuals to adjust the taxes, and failed to address the economic problems the nation is experiencing.

The former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli claimed that the finance minister had manipulated tax rates with the help of outsiders and middlemen and had refused to turn over the CCTV footage from Jestha 14, the day before he delivered the budget to Parliament, while the current prime minister had stood by and done nothing.

Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives today, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma clarified that he was not aware of the deletion of CCTV footage from the day before the budget was drafted and also that he was not aware of the technical aspects of CCTV.

Sharma claimed there was no fault in the budget's preparation during his speech.
