Finance minister heads to ADB annual meeting

KATHMANDU, May 1:
Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat on Monday flew to Kazakhstan to participate in the 47th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) scheduled to be held in its capital Astana from May 2 to 5. The annual meeting is expected to decide on issues like increasing the financial resource of the Asian Development Fund (ADF) for supporting the strategic long-term development goals set by under-developed countries of the region as well as asses the results achieved by ADF.
Mahat is going to make a broad presentation on the attained development results from the ADB’s assistance, according to the Ministry of Finance. Mahat is also scheduled to meet high-level officials of ADB.
Finance Ministers of South Asian nations under the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) are also going to hold separate meetings on the sideline of the main event.
