KATHMANDU, JUN 17 -
The parliamentary Finance and Labour Committee (FLC) on Monday instructed the government to bring executives of banks and financial institutions involved in fraud to book. According to FLC member Tilak Rawal, the committee directed the government to take sterner action against such bankers following a series of revelations of scams committed by them.

Of late, the police have arrested former executive chairman of Gurkha Development Bank DB Bamjan, former executive chairman of Bara-based United Development Bank Rabindra Bahadur Singh and its former director Radha Krishna Amatya for their alleged involvement in misappropriation of bank funds.

Likewise, the police have taken into custody Shyam Bahadur Shrestha, former executive chairman of Samjhana Finance.

The parliamentary committee also asked Nepal Rastra Bank governor Yubaraj Khatiwada to prepare a work plan in cooperation with the Finance Ministry to ease the liquidity crunch in the banking system.
