Festive season hits NEPSE

With the Nepalis’s big festival, Dashain, around the corner, the secondary market of Nepal has taken a toll. As the festival is getting nearer, the turnover of Nepal Stock Exchange has been decreasing simultaneously. Today also the turnover of market came down by 27.91% to Rs 44,934,721 which is below than the daily average of Rs 50 million. As the turnover was low, the Nepse had less volatility; the index opened below the yesterday’s closing of 426.13 at 425.5 level and trade within the one point range between 425.5 to 424.31 level. At the end of the day, the local bourse came to close at 424.75 level which is 1.42 or 0.33% points less than yesterday.

Among the sectoral sub-indices, Banking had the coverage of 60.38% among the total turnover but its level decreased by 0.84 point. The fall mainly came with the drop in Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL) by Rs 10 along with Rs 5 decline in both Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) and Laxmi Bank Limited (LBL). Similarly, Hydro, Manufacturing and Others sectors also decreased by 2.23, 7.79 and 8.22 points respectively. The scrip of Chilime Hydro Power Co. (CHCL) and Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) which have been the backbone in the rise of their respective sector, today both stocks fell by Rs 6 and Rs 7 respectively. Whereas in Manufacturing, the decline in Uniliver Nepal Ltd.(UNL) by Rs 150 pushed the sector further down.

As for remaining sector, all made improvement than yesterday.  The highest gainer was Hotels sector as it added 9.08 points. Similarly, Insurance added 7 points with the gain in Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN) and Himalayan Gen .Insu. Co. Ltd. (HGI) by Rs 44 and Rs 14 respectively. Likewise, Development and Finance jumped by 0.55 and 0.09 point respectively.

Under Development , Sahayogi Bikash Bank Ltd (SBBLJ), closed at Rs 240, proposed 12% bonus share and 15.63% cash dividend to its shareholders which helped the scrip to add Rs 5 in its tally. Similarly, Bishwa Bikas Bank Ltd.(BBBL),closed at Rs 146, proposed 17% cash dividend which also helped it to incline by Rs 4. Whereas in Finance, Goodwill Finance Ltd (GFCL), closed at Rs 158, proposed 3.5% Bonus Share and 5.5% cash dividend but the scrip decline by Rs 3 as it couldn’t create a positive impact. Likewise, United Finance Ltd. (UFL) has decided to distribute 10%cash dividend. This dividend had been approved by NRB on 2069/06/23 and it shall be distributed to the shareholders after approval from upcoming 18th AGM.

Overall there were 92 scrips traded among which 37 scrips increased, 17 remain intact and 38 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Himalayan Gen .Insu. Co. Ltd. (HGI),closed at Rs  158, with Rs 14 or 9.72%. Whereas, Diprox Development Bank (DDBL), closed at Rs 285, was the Top Loser with Rs 16 or 5.32%.

In terms of highest share traded, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBBL) , closed at Rs 160, topped with 14,935 units. As for turnover, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), closed at Rs 1125, topped with 9,516 units worth Rs 10,715,545 via 46 transactions; in which Broker no 10(Pragyan Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 82.34% stand alone dealing of EBL, totaling 7,839 units worth Rs 8,823,655 via 34 transactions.

Overall 170,770 units of shares were traded via 1,184 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 402,213.45 Millions.
