Federal Parliament Houses Scheduled to Meet Today

Both Houses of Nepal’s Federal Parliament are scheduled to hold their meetings today. The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is scheduled to take place at Singha Durbar at 11:00 am, with the agenda including responses from ministers to oral and written questions that could not be addressed during the session.

Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, is scheduled to table the Eighth Annual Report of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission, 2083 before the House. Minister Gautam will also propose that the Bill to Revive Provisions of Certain Nepal Acts, 2083 and the National Defense University Bill, 2083 be sent to the respective committees for clause-wise discussion.

Similarly, Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal will propose sending the Waste Management Bill, 2083 to the relevant committee for clause-by-clause discussion. Minister for Women, Children, Gender, Sexual Minorities, and Social Security Sita Badi will also propose that the Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Related to Women, Children, Gender, Sexual Minorities, and Social Security, 2083 be referred to the concerned committee for detailed clause-wise deliberation.

The meeting will also consider several bills related to the health sector. Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta is scheduled to present proposals to send the Mother's Milk Substitutes (Control of Sale and Distribution) (First Amendment) Bill, 2083, Right to Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health (First Amendment) Bill, 2083, Security of Health Professionals and Health Institutions (Second Amendment) Bill, 2083, and Ram Raja Prasad Singh Academy of Health Sciences Bill, 2083 to the respective committees for clause-wise discussion.

The HoR is also scheduled to consider and pass the Remuneration, Condition of Service, and Facilities of Office-Bearers of Constitutional Bodies (First Amendment) Bill, 2083 during today’s meeting. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal will also present for House approval the notices of absence submitted by lawmakers who have missed 10 or more meetings, in accordance with the House of Representatives Rules, 2083. The Speaker is further scheduled to read out letters received from the President.

Meanwhile, the meeting of the National Assembly is scheduled to begin at 1:15 pm today. The meeting will also address oral and written questions that could not be presented during the session, with the concerned ministers scheduled to provide responses to the outstanding queries.

The National Assembly is also scheduled to consider a proposal concerning the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081, which was returned by the House of Representatives with amendments. The proposal seeks approval of the amendments made by the HoR. Similarly, the National Assembly meeting is scheduled to consider and pass the Domestic Air Service Liability Bill, 2083.
