Elected for Seventh Time from Dadeldhura, NC President Deuba Faces Much Expectation from Voters

With seven consecutive victories in the election to the House of Representatives from Dadeldhura district, Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is facing much expectation from the voters.

They have hoped PM Deuba will deliver development activities and solve unemployment problems. The voters are waiting for the implementation of PM's promise as the establishment of a medical college and an airport in district, advancement of the West Seti project, development of well-managed cities, and upgrading of roads, irrigation, and drinking waters.

Development of religious tourism is another expectation with NC President Deuba, who is said to be the candidate for next prime minister.

Chairman of Ajaymeru-1, Datti Singh Bhandari said NC President Deuba should make special initiative for development to suit the needs of modern time. Establishment of industries in the country is essential to control exodus of youths for foreign employment while modernization of agriculture is equally imperative, he added.

NC President and Prime Minister Deuba got elected to the Member of the House of Representatives for the seventh time with wide margin of 12,492 votes.

Chief returning officer Balkrishna Wagle informed that PM Deuba got 25,534 votes while his nearest rival Sagar Dhakal, an independent candidate, collected 13,042 votes. Similarly, Karna Bahadur Malla of Nepali Congress (BP) got 5,035 votes.

PM Deuba was born at Ruwakhola of Asigram in Dadeldhura district in 2003BS. He entered politics since 2017BS and became first elected Chairman of Nepal Student Union, a sister wing of the Nepali Congress.

Deuba always fought for democracy remaining in the forefront in student movements waged time and again since people's referendum in 2036 BS. He won the first general election held in 2048 BS.

He again won the parliamentary election in 2051 BS and 2056 BS as well as election to Constituent Assembly in 2064 BS and 2070 BS. Deuba won the election from Dadeldhura for seventh time, said NC Dadeldhura Secretary, Sher Bahadur Bhandari.

Deuba was elected as NC President for second time by defeating Shekhar Koirala in the 14th general convention of the party in 2078 BS.

Similarly, he has become Prime Minister of the country for the fifth times. He became Prime Minister for the first time in 2052BS.

PM Deuba has been efficiently shouldering the responsibility of holding election timely. The election in 2074BS was also conducted successfully during his leadership.

A new constitution was just promulgated before the election and many disgruntled Madhesh-centric political parties and leaders had announced not to participate in the election. But, PM Deuba held talks with them in various rounds and created an enabling environment for election which had resulted in success.

The local level election which was not held for nearly two decades was also held during Deuba's premiership. Similarly, on May 13 early this year, another local level election was held successfully.

This parliamentary election on November 20 was also held on a timely and peaceful manner and in a single phase.

The result to the recently held parliamentary election continues to come out in which the NC is taking lead in vote count.

NC President Deuba is regarded as the persons able to bring onboard all political parties including the leftists and move ahead forging consensus with them.
