Eight Nepalese students receive IDP’s Academic Merit Scholarship worth AUD 5,000 each
Eight ambitious students from Nepal were awarded Academic Merit Scholarships worth AUD 5,000 each today by IDP Education, a global leader in international education services.
The Australian Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Peter Budd, awarded the scholarships during the special ceremony that was part of IDP Nepal’s Australia Education Fair held at Hotel Radisson. The education fair, which hosted representatives from over 35 Australian universities and colleges, provided a platform for thousands of Nepalese students and their parents to interact with the Australian institutions’ representatives to discuss the students’ study and career goals.
Initially launched when IDP inaugurated its first student placement office in Kathmandu last year, the Academic Merit Scholarship Program aims to provide opportunity for bright Nepalese students to transform their career and make a difference to their country after completing their studies.
With hundreds of applications coming in from across Nepal, a judging panel assessed submissions on criteria including academic merit, IELTS score and course submissions progress.
All eight recipients have been accepted to study Master’s degrees in leading universities across Australia.
“We are proud to be supporting the recipients to achieve their lifelong study and career goals,” Piyush Kumar, Regional Director, IDP South Asia said.
“We know international education can deliver benefits to the wider community and we are very pleased we could play a role in facilitating this for students in Nepal and their families,” Mr. Kumar said.
“We are also inviting prospective international students from Nepal to consider applying for an additional two scholarships for the November 2019 and February 2020 university intake periods,” he said.
The Scholarship Program is one of the many initiatives delivered by IDP Nepal to support students. The office in Kathmandu is a launch pad for students who wish to enhance their career and aim for personal and professional growth.
IDP Education Student Placement Services’ team of experienced education counsellors support students from Nepal who aspire to study internationally by assisting at all steps of the journey - from shortlisting universities and colleges to supporting them even after reaching their study destination.
