Economists fear crisis due to continuous strike

KATHMANDU, MAY 23: 

Economists have cautioned that the country's economy could face serious impact due to continuous strikes stating that economic activities in the country were standstill for a long time.

Talking to RSS regarding the impacts of bandh on economy, they said continuous strikes have created serious cracks in Nepalis economy and expressed dissatisfaction to the apathy of the bandh organisers regarding the long lasting impacts of bandh on economy.

Economist Dr Chiranjibi Nepal warned, "Our commercial image will wane as Nepalese products will not reach the international markets in time due to strikes."

Similarly, economist Dr Dilliraj Khanal said millions of rupees were lost due to the strike and this will have far reaching impacts adding that stakeholders should address the demands of agitating groups and take the country to economic prosperity.

Likewise, economist Dr Chandramani Adhikari said country's economy would further decline if another alternative to strike was not sought.
