DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENTS ENCOURAGE INVESTORS

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) made an upbeat performance today following the announcement of impressive dividends from the big companies.

On the verge of the weekend, big companies like Nabil Bank had proposed 40 percent cash and 25 percent bonus share, and Chilime Hydro Power Co Ltd. had proposed 30 percent bonus share and 10% cash dividend , along with the modest return proposal of 50 percent cash and 10 percent bonus share from  Everest Bank Ltd.

Citing such announcements, the investors were eager to hold and buy these scrips along with other similar nature scrips, in anticipation of better proposal from them also, boosting  the scrips and the market index in progress. The local bourse today gained 5.52 points, to close at 552.01 levels today.

While, Nabil Bank Limited (NABIL), closed at Rs 2002, made a hefty leap of Rs 182 or 10%, making the scrip best performer among the traded scrips today. Along with NABIL, Chilime Hydropower also made a gain of Rs 58 or 3.84%.

CHCL had the highest turnover among the traded scrips today. In total, 38505 units of shares were traded via 187 transactions worth Rs 59,721,651.

The broker with the highest standalone dealing of CHCL was Broker No 14 (Nepal Stock House Pvt. Limited) with 8.20%; amounting Rs 9,794,671 via 36 transactions totaling  6,347 units which includes 1 matching transaction tallying  1,080 units worth Rs 1,652,400.

Whereas, the lower than expected return from Everest Bank Limited (EBL), closed at Rs 1692, pushed the scrip level down by Rs 128 or 7.03%, making it the second highest loser of the day. While, Muktinath Bikas Bank Ltd. (MNBBL), closed at Rs 335, was the worst performer for the day with a loss of Rs 30 or 8.22%

In another development, investors wait for the trading of Mega Bank finally came to end today. The company’s share traded over 80 percent above the par value, the first trade of Mega was made at Rs 188 but by the end of the day, the scrip came to close at Rs 181. Altogether 443,69 unit of shares were traded through 490 transactions worth Rs 8,061,987.

Coming to sub-indices, Hydro surged by 30.32 points followed by Banking with 8.13 points advance and 0.25 points incline of Development. While, Insurance suffered loss of 1.54 point alongside 0.85 points fall of Finance. As for Others, it remained intact at 669.68 levels.

All in all, the scrips of 96 companies were traded, out of which 42 scrips gained, 22 remained intact and 32 scrips lost. Overall, 418,768 units of shares were traded by 1,917 transactions with total turnover worth Rs 235,120,306 ; the market capitalization by the end of the day tallied to Rs 550,078.05 million.
