Digital Nepal Conclave 2024: A Landmark Event for Technological Advancement

The third Digital Nepal Conclave 2024, organized by ICT Foundation Nepal, concluded at the Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu last Friday. The event featured participation from key government figures, including the Prime Minister, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Minister of Finance, and a former Prime Minister.

The program focused on coordinating digitization and development, featuring five-panel sessions and over ten presentations on topics such as Digital Public Infrastructure, Sustainable Telecommunications, Innovative Technologies, Digital Empowerment, Digital Governance, and Digital Economy.

Key highlights included:

1. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasized IT as a priority for economic prosperity and job creation, aiming for 1.5 million jobs in the next decade.

2. Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stressed the importance of technology-friendly service delivery and criticized subsequent governments for neglecting digital initiatives.

3. Minister of Communication and Information Technology Ms. Rekha Sharma highlighted the collaborative efforts to advance IT.

4. Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun identified IT as transformative for the economy.

The conclave featured notable speakers from various sectors and showcased over 20 digital initiatives. It attracted over 600 participants, including representatives from government, private institutions, and startups. The event was organized in association with Ncell and powered by The Asia Foundation, with support from various organizations.

Since the 2019 publication of the Digital Nepal Framework, the ICT Foundation has organized annual conclaves to improve the digital ecosystem through reports, research, and programs.
