DESPITE WEARY MARKET SENTIMENT, NEPSE ADDS 0.16 POINTS

Defying the weary market sentiment, the NEPSE index today made a narrow escape to advance by 0.16 points.
Following the last week slide of more than seven points in the market, the market sentiment is on the wobbly side. In addition, as the market has a history of being sluggish during this time of the festive season, the investors are further taking cautions, which has whatsoever not helped to ease the market.
Fuelled by above scenarios, the Nepse index embraced selling pressure from the beginning of the session till the end of the session. However, boost from the Others sector helped the market index made a remarkable recovery in the last five minutes to settle at green zone.
The local bourse at the end of the day came to settle at 541.86 levels.
Others sector today gained 8.22 points alongside 24.67 points incline of Hotels, 7.73 points surge of Hydro and 2.62 point jump of Insurance.
While, all three of the Banking and Financial Institutions sub-indices suffered loss today. Banking tumbled by 2.44 points followed by Finance with a 0.43 point decline and Development with 0.27 points fall.
All in all, 108 scrips were traded, out of which 31 scrips gained, 26 remained intact and 51 scrips lost.
The share with the highest gain in today’s session was, Seti Finance Limited (SETI), closed at Rs 106, with Rs 9 or 9.28 percent growth. Whereas, United Insurance Co. (Nepal) Ltd. (UIC), closed at Rs 135, was the worst performer forth day with a loss of Rs 7 or 4.93 percent.
The scrip with the highest turnover in today’s market was of NMB Bank Ltd. (NMB) which closed at Rs 247. In total, 56,969 units of shares were traded through only 74 transactions worth Rs 13,523,235.
The broker with the highest standalone dealing of NMB was Broker No 56 (Sri Hari Securities Pvt. Ltd.) with 86.50%; amounting Rs 23,395,100 via 59 transactions totaling 98,880 units which include 13 matching transactions tallying 42,500 units worth Rs 10,015,000.
Altogether 441,900 units of shares were traded through 1,678 transactions worth Rs 123,664,693. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 544,187.26million.
