DESPITE SOAR IN TURNOVER, NEPSE TURNS RED

Following the prior trading day drop of 0.02 points, Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued to do so today also as the benchmark index plunged by 2.55 points at the end of the trade. Despite the healthy transactions in the market, none of the sectors were able to boost the market index today. With all the sub indices in the red zone today, the local bourse also for most of the session dwelled on the negative and continued to do so till the end of the day; the Nepse index today closed at 511.92 points.

However, the volumes of transactions today were high in comparison to previous days indicating there is still healthy participation of investors in the market. The turnover today stood around Rs 111,681,301 which is higher by 75.74%. Likewise, the amount of share traded also soar as it tallied around 447,674 units which were carried out by the 1,034 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day dropped to Rs 493,089.03 million.

Among the sub indices, Manufacturing plummeted by double digit of 10.17 points as the drop in the level of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 196 cost the sector dearly. Similarly, the fall in the Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) and Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 11 and Rs 5 dragged the Hotels sector by 9.47 points. Likewise, subside in the value of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 11 affected the Hydro sector by 6.72 points.

As for Banking and Financial Institutions sub-indices, all three i.e. Banking, Development and Finance plummeted by 2.45, 2.25 and 1.08 points respectively. Under Banking, the scrips of Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal Credit And Com. Bank (NCC) and Bank of Kathmandu (BOK) suffered the loss of double digits i.e. Rs 20, Rs 11 and Rs 10 respectively. Along with them there were other 13 scrips which suffered loss among the 28 scrips traded. As for Other sector, it made a descent of 2.34 points following the tumble in the price of  Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC).

Overall there were only 88 scrips traded among which 18 scrips increased, 15 remain intact and 55 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Alpine Development Bank Limited (ALDBL), closed at Rs 97, with Rs 6 or 6.59% gain. Whereas, Excel Development Bank Ltd. (EDBL), closed at Rs 273, following the price adjustment by Nepse of 25% bonus share declared by the company, plunged by Rs 82 or 23.10%, making the scrip highest loser of the day.

In case of highest traded shares, Citizens Bank International Limited Promoter Share (CZBILPO), closed at Rs 100, topped with 105,250 units. Among the ordinary shares, KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 134, topped with 24,350 units.

In terms of turnover, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) , closed at Rs 1362, topped with 10,804 units worth Rs 14,613,588 via 35 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 65.63% stand alone dealing of EBL, tallying, 7,104 units worth Rs 9,591,620 via 5 selling transactions which includes 2 matching transactions totaling 7,004 units worth Rs 9,455,400.
