DESPITE INCREASE IN TURNOVER, NEPSE TUMBLE

The market index of Nepal, Nepse , today also continued to tumble as the local bourse suffer the loss of 1.43 points to close at 519.26 levels. Though the market turnover increased by Rs 14.59 million or 15.36% than the prior day’s trade, the high selling pressure in the Banking scrips held the market from upward trend. In spite of the increase in the volume of trade, the market remained in the red zone for the entire session.
As mentioned above, the positive note for market today was the turnover amount which crossed the Rs 100 million mark today; the last time the market reached such high turnover was in 19th March, 2013. Altogether there were transaction of 320,303 units of shares via 940 transactions worth Rs 109,548,990; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 504,295.45 Millions.
As for sub-indices, Banking and Finance were the only sectors which suffered the loss of 3.6 and 0.08 points respectively. While, Development made a surge of 0.5 points. Similarly, Hydro also joined the winning club today as the sector soared by 0.8 points. In the Hydro sector today, the Trading of National Hydropower Company Limited was resumed from today as per the directives received from SEBON after receiving the due listing fee; 25000 units of shares were traded of the scrip at Rs 55 via one transaction today.
Likewise, Insurance made a jump of 16.13 points following the increase in the level of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. by Rs 84 as today was the last day before the book closure date of the company, the scrip was highly demanded in the market; the company has proposed 56.31% cash dividend and 70% bonus share to its shareholders. As for Others, it incremented by 1.18 points whereas Hotels made ascent of 1.12 points.
Overall there were trade of 78 scrips among which 30 scrips increased 9 remained intact and 39 scrips decreased. The best performer for the day was, Purnima Bikas Bank Limited (PURBL), closed at Rs 70, with Rs 5 or 7.69% gain. Whereas, Kumari Bank Limited Promoter Share (KBLPO), closed at Rs 105, was the worst performer with Rs 10 or 8.70% loss. Among the ordinary scrips trading above par, Surya Life Insurance Company Limited (SLICL), closed at Rs 190, was the top gainer with Rs 12 or 6.74% gain whereas Siddhartha Insurance Limited (SIL), closed at RS 190, was the top loser with Rs 5 or 2.56%.
In case of the highest shares traded in ordinary scrips, National Life Insu. Co. Ltd. (NLICL), closed at Rs 534, topped with 32,700 units. In terms of turnover, Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), closed at Rs 2194, topped with 13,790 units worth Rs 28,952,199 via 30 transactions; in which Broker no 13 (Thrive Brokerage House Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 78.48% stand alone dealing of NLIC, tallying 10,820 units worth Rs 22,722,000 via 3 selling transactions.
