Departmental stores announce offers to draw Dashain shoppers

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: 

In a bid to draw Dashain shoppers, leading department stores have announced attractive discounts and special offers effective from Tuesday.

Retail giant Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket and Departmental Store´s discount offer will continue till January 15, 2013, while officials of Bluebird Mart and Saleways Departmental Store said their offer will continue only till October 23. Bigmart´s offer will continue till Dashain festival whereas CG Mart´s festive offer will be in effect till Tihar (November 15).

Panu Paudel, operation head of Bhat-Bhateni, said customers will get up to 5 percent discount on grocery items, 5 percent on kitchenware and 7 percent on electronic items on purchase through Visa Card. Similarly, customers buying saree, kurtha salwars, readymade garments and shoes through Visa Card will get 10 percent discount, while those paying on cash will get 5 percent discount. It is offering up to 25 percent discount on carpets.

“Customers will also get a coupon on purchase of goods worth Rs 1,000. They have to fill their details in the coupon and drop it at drop boxes,” Paudel said, adding, “Lucky customers can win Bajaj bikes at every outlet.” Similarly, customers buying 32-inch LCD TV at Bhat-Bhateni´s Pokhara outlet will get Dish Home free of cost.

Bluebird Mart is providing 5-50 percent discount on all items, except liquor, during Dashain. Raj Shrestha, purchase, branding, sales and marketing manager of Bluebird, said people buying a minimum of one carton of liquor will get 5 percent discount.

Bluebird has introduced four different varieties of imported beer and 35 different flavors of juices especially for Dashain.

Saleways Departmental Store is providing up to 5 percent off on all grocery items and 10 percent discount on highly sellable items and 15 to 50 percent off on summer wears. "We are providing 10 percent discount on liquors from Tuesday till the ninth day of Dashain," said CN Paudel, operation manager of Saleways.

Bigmart Department Store is providing up to 35 percent discount on grocery and food items. Antim Ranjit, marketing and branding manager of Bigmart, said the retail chain has also announced a scheme named ´Shop &Win´ under which customers will get a coupon with every purchase which enables them to win cash prizes and other gift hampers. 

CG Mart is providing free discount card to its customers through which they can get 2 to 3 percent discount on all products initially which will gradually increase on the basis of the volume of goods purchased. 

Diwas Yonjan, manager-retail and supply chain at CG Mart, said customers buying goods worth Rs 1,000 and above from Ghatasthapana till Tihar will have to drop their name and contact number through which they can win various gifts and free shopping vouchers.
