Customs Department Director Harihar Paudel Receives Chamber Honor

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce has honored Director Harihar Paudel for his service. Chairman Rajendra Malla and Revenue Secretary Ram Prasad Ghimire honored Director Poudel with a certificate in a program held at Chamber Bhavan in Jamal, Kathmandu. Chairman Malla said that Paudel was honored on the occasion of the 72nd International Customs Day for his excellent service in the Customs Department.
During the honor program, Chairman Malla advocated for facilitating trade to discourage imports and promote exports. He stressed the need to identify and boost exportable items to address the trade deficit. Malla also highlighted the rising issue of smuggling due to open borders and urged increased vigilance by customs administration. Additionally, he emphasized meeting revenue targets by expanding the tax base rather than increasing tax rates.
In response, Revenue Secretary Ghimire mentioned recent improvements in the economy and emphasized the shift from a trade-oriented to a production-oriented economy, with ongoing facilitation efforts.
