Court Decision Frees Detained Figures in Bansbari Leather Factory Land Scam

Three individuals, including industrialist Arun Chaudhary, who was previously detained by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police on charges related to the unauthorized privatization of land belonging to Bansbari Leather and Shoes Factory, have been granted release.
This decision follows a ruling from the District Court Kathmandu, with the stipulation that they must appear before the police when summoned, as informed by CIB Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari. Arun Chaudhary, the proprietor of Champion Footwear Limited, along with Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa, the former executive chair of Bansbari Leather and Shoe Factory, and Sanjay Thakur, the proprietor of CG Chandbag Residency Pvt Ltd, were apprehended in connection with the alleged scam. According to the CIB, the court's verdict led to their release, yet the investigation into the fraudulent activities continues.
A bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Yagya Prasad Acharya on Monday directed the CIB to conclude the investigative process while imposing the condition that the individuals must make themselves available to the police as required.
