Elections for the provincial Assembly/legislature and the representative assembly will take place on Mangsir 4.

A minister reported that the decision to hold the House of Representatives election on Mangsir 4 was made at the Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday.

Following the dissolution of the provincial legislature, all of the members making up the Provincial Assembly are elected, according to Article 176 of the Constitution of Nepal 2015. Unless it is dissolved early, the Provincial Assembly's duration is five years.

Political parties select candidates for each constituency or allow independents to run. Under the first past the post electoral system, one representative is chosen from each constituency. Due to Nepal's parallel voting system, electing representatives using party-list proportional representation requires voters to cast a second ballot.

The first provincial assembly elections in Nepal was held in two phase on 26 November 2017 and on 7 December 2017. Currently, there are 550 provincial seats in all of 7 provinces of Nepal.
