CORRECTION IN NEPSE

Following the surge of more than 18 points of yesterday, Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) today made correction of 5.91 points to close at 527.01 levels. Though, the news of political parties on the verge of a political break through encouraged the investors yesterday, the failing of political parties to come together for common decision at the end of the day has created a mixed hope among the investors today.
The turnover today stood at Rs 107,927,661. Though the turnover is less than that of yesterday, the figure above Rs 100 million mark still indicates a healthy market participation. Overall 252,169 units of shares were traded via 1114 transactions with the market capitalization amounting Rs 507,635.02 million at the end of the day.
Altogether there were trades of eight sectors, Manufacturing sector climbed by 2.86 points following the increment in the price of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 55. Similarly, ascend in the scrips of Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) by Rs 6 boosted the Hotels sector up by 0.19 points. Likewise, Finance and Insurance also inclined by 0.29 and 4.43 points respectively.
Under Insurance, Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) today also soared by Rs 73 as the company has proposed 126.31% dividend including both bonus share and cash to its shareholders , the scrip has become one of the highly demanded share in the market; the scrip today also was among top five performers among the traded shares.
While, profit booking in most of the banking scrip today dragged the Banking sector down by 8.26 points. Under it, the shares of Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI), Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB) and Bank of Kathmandu (BOK), which were among the highest gainers of yesterday’s trade, tumbled by Rs 30, Rs 26, Rs 19, Rs 18 and Rs 16 respectively.
Likewise, Development also plummeted by 0.62 points. Whereas, the fall in Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 16 and Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) by Rs 7 pushed the Hydro and Others sector further south by 9.17 and 9.39 points respectively.
Overall there were only 89 scrips traded among which 23 scrips increased, 13 remain intact and 53 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL), closed at Rs 128, with Rs 6 or 4.92% gain. Whereas, Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN), closed at Rs 994, was the highest loser with Rs 61 or 5.78%.
In terms of highest share traded, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 286, topped with 32,468 units. In case of turnover, Nepal Bank Ltd. (NBL), closed at Rs 897, topped with 21,258 units worth Rs 17,900,617 via 26 transactions; in which Broker no 17 (ABC Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 97.08% stand alone dealing of NBL, tallying 20,657 units worth Rs 17,379,365 via 16 transactions which includes 6 matching transactions totaling 19,922 units worth Rs 16,741,980.
