Continuous Rain, Floods and Landslides Disrupt Nepal Telecom Services

Telecommunications services of Nepal Telecom have been affected in several districts of the country due to continuous rainfall, strong winds, floods and landslides.

Nepal Telecom said services have been disrupted in various locations since September 24 due to the ongoing bad weather. Heavy rainfall and landslides have made it difficult for technical teams to reach affected areas, while damage to optical fiber lines has also affected services.

The company said power supply disruptions have further affected its operations. In some locations, snowfall, rainfall and cloudy weather have reduced the effectiveness of solar powered sites, creating additional difficulties in maintaining services.

Nepal Telecom said repair and maintenance work that can be carried out remotely is ongoing, while teams are working to restore services wherever access is possible. The company has also kept technical teams ready to be deployed to affected areas as soon as weather conditions improve.

Nepal Telecom has apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused by the service disruptions. It also thanked customers for their patience and understanding during the difficult conditions caused by floods, landslides and continuous rainfall.
