Construction of Upper Thulokhola Hydropower Completed ; Test Production Begins

The 22.5 MW Upper Thulokhola Hydropower Project in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi has completed construction and started test production. The project was promoted by Thulokhola Hydropower Limited which began construction in 2021.

According to project chief Shiva Sagar Yadav, the physical structures, powerhouse equipment installation, and transmission line construction have all been completed. The project which is located in sugurthala includes a dam and de-sander, a 2,900-meter main pipeline, a 300-meter surge shaft pipeline, and a powerhouse at Phedi.

The run-of-river project has also built a 5 kilometre long 132 KV capacity transmission line with 14 towers from Phedi to Bandi. The generated electricity will be connected to the central power grid through the Dana Khurkot Transmission Line from Bandi to Thulokhola and from Chimkhola via Tilkenichaur in collaboration with Chimkhola Mangle Rahughat hydropower projects. Dev Urja Construction is the civil and hydro mechanical contractor and BFL Bangalore is the electromechanical contractor for this project.

The project’s estimated cost is Rs 3 billion. About 70% of the investment is financed through loans from Citizens Bank International and Machhapuchchhre Bank, while promoters will retain 10% investment and the remaining 20% of the investment of the project will be raised from the public through IPO shares.
