COMMERCIAL BANKS REPORT BOOST NEPSE

Following the astounding growth in the net profit of Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB), Prime Commercial Bank Ltd. (PCBL) of 68.94%, 85.70% and 130% in the second quarter of the current fiscal year, Nepal Stock Exchange today boosted up by 1.14 points to close at 514.77 levels. Though there had been second quarter publication of some of the commercial banks in the previous week, it couldn’t create a substantial effect as the political tension suppressed the positive outlook of the financial reports.
However, the net profit post by NABIL of Rs 1,116.53 million mainly boosted the investor confidence in the market today. Further it was complemented by the second quarter reports of NIB, PRIME, ACB, ADBL and LBL [For more detail: http://www.sharesansar.com/listannouncements.php ]. The Banking sub indices also from this news soar by 3.58 points whereas Development and Finance made a meager jump of 0.31 and 0.19 points respectively.
As for Hotels it surged by 7.37 points following the incline in the price of Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 5. Likewise increase in the value of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 15 further pushed the Hydro sector up by 4.54 points. Similarly, the rise in Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) and National LifeInsu. Co.Ltd. (NLICL) by Rs 33 and Rs 10 respectively propelled the Insurance sector up by 6.64 points.
Whereas, the growth in Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) of Rs 195 pushed the Manufacturing up by 10.11 points. While tumble in the price of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) dragged the Others sector down by 11.75%.
Overall there were 87 scrips traded among which 34 scrips increased, 20 remained intact and 33 scrips decreased. The highest loser for the day was, Summit Micro Finance Development Bank Ltd (SMFDB), closed at Rs 203, with Rs 8 or 3.79% loss. Whereas, the highest gainer was Sunrise Bank Limited (SRBL), closed at Rs 202, with Rs 17 or 9.19% gain; as the company had a growth of 227.62% in the second quarter with net profit amounting Rs 126.30 million, it was one of the highly demanded scrip in the market today.
In terms of highest share trade and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 274, today also topped with 30,913 units worth Rs 8,457,202 via 82 transactions; in which Broker no 25 (Sweta Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 20.70% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 6,420 units worth Rs 1,750,900 via 10 transactions.
The turnover today stood around Rs 69,022,311 which is higher by Rs 6,272,894 or 10% than prior day’s trade. Overall 188,970 units of shares were traded via 1102 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 495,841.55 million at the end of the day.
