Nepali health tech start up Cogent Health has announced the roll out of “e-Appointments” platform in partnership with eSewa, Nepal’s first and leading payment service provider.

“e-Appointments” is a platform that enables a hospital or a healthcare institution in its network to offer online appointment service to its patients or general public who can book appointments for OPD consultations with a particular Doctor from within eSewa mobile wallet app and also make instant payments digitally. “The introduction of this novel service integrating cross-cutting technologies from healthcare and fintech domains marks the beginning of our stride towards building a sustainable digital ecosystem in Nepal”, said Mr. Daniel D Shrestha, Managing Director, Cogent Health marketing the launch.

The roll out is expected to not only help healthcare institutions in streamlining their OPD services and generating demand by expanding its outreach to 3.5 million plus captive mobile app users of eSewa and 10 million plus users being served by its agents nationwide. It is also expected to help reduce the associated risks posed by the current COVID-19 pandemic by allowing general public to navigate their way in to finding the right hospital and the doctor from the comfort of their homes and booking appointments without having to queue up and be physically present at the hospital. Currently leading private healthcare institutions like Nidan Hospital, Annapurna Neuro Hospital and BP Eye Hospital are already onboard this platform with dozens more in the pipeline.
