CNI organizing Infrastructure Summit in Nov

KATHMANDU, Oct 16 : The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) is organizing Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2014 on November 11-12 to facilitate discussion on infrastructure development so that Nepal can accelerate its economic growth by fast-tracking domestic and international investments in airports, energy, tourism, agribusiness, mass transit, water management and urban development.
Issuing a statement, CNI said this would be probably the first of its kind of summit focused on infrastructure sector in Nepal.
CIN has stated that the summit will act as a catalyst toward a prosperous Nepal. The thematic areas of coverage includes tourism infrastructure, energy, transportation, urban infrastructure and agriculture.
India´s Minister for Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari will be the keynote speaker at the summit.
The aim of the summit is to start and sustain a national conversation on infrastructure development so that in future years, working closely with the government and the private sector, policies, regulations, networks, know-how, financing and expertise on infrastructure development could be pooled and deployed in Nepal.
"It the Summit, which would be hosted in collaboration with the Investment Board Nepal, outlook and opportunities for investment in infrastructure in Nepal would be discussed and identified. Likewise, learning from other countries´ experience, a framework for sustainable infrastructure development would be developed," the statement added.
With the government´s already prioritizing the infrastructure sector, including hydropower, roads and others, the summit will give an impetus to the agenda and bring the agenda into focus.
"Ways of improving the climate for investment would be put forth so that financing for infrastructure development could be attracted in the coming years," said the statement.
