Citizens Bank to facilitate Nepalgunj’s initiative to end child marriage and promote female education

Citizens Bank has partnered with Nepalgunj sub-metro to begin girl education and child marriage prevention FD account so as to promote the education of girl children and demotivate the practice of child marriage.

Under this scheme, the bank will have Rs 25 thousand worth of FD accounts for the girls which would be facilitated by the Nepalgunj sub-metro. The deposit amount can only be withdrawn if the girl child completes her higher education and abstains from getting married before she is 20, as per the media statement. 

The bank currently has 184 branches, 141 ATM outlets, 3 extension counters, 6 POS terminals and 97 branchless banking units across the nation.
