Citizens Bank Leads Rs 7.5 Billion Financing for 50 MW Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project

Citizens Bank International Limited has led a consortium financing agreement to invest Rs 7.5 billion in the 50 MW Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project being developed by Divyajyoti Hydropower Limited in Lamjung district of Gandaki Province.

The project, estimated to cost around Rs 11.3 billion, will be funded through a 67:33 debt-equity ratio, with promoter investment covering the remaining amount. The hydropower project is targeted for completion within four years and will be connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Udipur Substation after construction. The project is expected to generate around 312.6 GWh of electricity annually.

Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony, Citizens Bank CEO Ganesh Raj Pokharel highlighted the bank’s continued investment in hydropower and green energy projects through individual and consortium financing. The bank has already invested in 42 hydropower projects with a combined capacity of over 1,605 MW across different provinces of Nepal.

Chairman of Divyajyoti Hydropower Limited, Satish Neupane, said all required legal procedures have been completed and expressed confidence that construction will begin soon and finish on schedule.
