Citizens Bank Champions CSR with Kohalpur Crematorium Project and Digital Innovations
Citizens Bank International Limited has advanced its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts by supporting the construction of a new crematorium in Ward No. 11 of Kohalpur Municipality, Banke, Lumbini Province. Built at the confluence of the Duduwa and Rohini rivers, the crematorium offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional cremation, aiming to reduce pollution and modernize funeral practices.
In a formal ceremony, CEO Ganesh Raj Pokharel handed over the support to local representatives and reiterated the bank’s dedication to meaningful community projects. This initiative aligns with the bank’s CSR focus areas: inclusivity, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
Beyond CSR, Citizens Bank is setting digital innovation benchmarks. It introduced Nepal’s first virtual credit card in partnership with Fonepay and was named “Bank of the Year 2024.” The bank also offers a mobile app for convenient services, such as CRN number registration and share applications, and launched a Cross Bank Teller service for paperless cash withdrawals.
Operating in 61 districts with 200 branches and over 1.89 million customers, Citizens Bank is bridging urban-rural banking gaps and driving long-term value through inclusive growth. It pledges continued support for projects that uplift communities and protect the environment.
