CIMEX INC, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Nepal, has issued a clarification in response to media and public concerns regarding the import and customs clearance of electric vehicles brought into the country before the announcement of the fiscal year 2083/84 budget.

The company stated that all vehicles were imported and cleared strictly in accordance with prevailing Nepalese laws, customs regulations, and procedures. It rejected allegations of receiving preferential treatment, special facilitation, or engaging in any irregular customs practices, calling such claims false and damaging to its reputation.

According to the company, around 226 vehicles had arrived at Chinese customs but were still undergoing clearance, and imports were aligned with customer bookings, demand for EVs in Nepal, and standard business logistics rather than any tax-related changes.

CIMEX emphasized its commitment to transparency and stated it is fully prepared to cooperate with any official investigation, providing all relevant import, customs, shipping, and payment documents if required. The company also urged media and stakeholders not to draw conclusions without verified facts and reiterated its long-term commitment to Nepal’s clean energy transition and ethical business practices.
