CIB nabs corruption convict

KATHMANDU, JAN 12: 

The Central Investigation Bureau today arrested absconding corruption convict, Suman Maharjan (36) of Khichapokhari.

Maharjan was at large after the Supreme Court upheld a Special Court decision convicting him of corruption last year. 

CIB said Maharjan was nabbed from his hideout in Baneshwor Height on a special tip-off. 

The court had ordered the defendant to pay a principal amount of Rs 2.37 million that he had defrauded from Maharajgunj-based Agricultural Development Bank and a fine of Rs 1.18 million. 

According to SP Ishwar Babu Karku, Maharjan had taken a loan of Rs 2.37 million from the bank for Sijapati Printing Press by producing fake documents of a land belonging to Usha Sijapati as collateral. Moreover, the printing press was not operational.
