CIAA Files Corruption Case Against Bagmati Municipality Mayor Thapa

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken legal action against Bagmati Municipality Mayor Bharat Kumar Thapa, filing a corruption case against him. The move comes in response to allegations of unlawful accumulation of wealth, which the Constitutional anti-graft body has investigated and determined to be in violation of ethical standards.

The CIAA officially lodged the corruption case against Mayor Thapa in the Special Court located in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Following complaints received by the CIAA, a thorough investigation revealed that Mayor Thapa had amassed a total wealth of Rs 53.353 million through misuse of his position and authority, as detailed in a statement issued by the CIAA.
