Chitwan Takes the Lead in Foreign Employment Approvals within Bagmati Province

Chitwan stands out as the first district in Bagmati province to engage in foreign employment following labor approval, with 15,823 individuals gaining approval this year out of the province's 13 districts. Surya Prasad Paudel, the Program Coordinator of the Foreign Employment and Immigration and Sami Program, highlighted a significant number of Chitwan residents pursuing higher education in European countries like Australia, America, and Britain.
He emphasized the challenge of finding a home without seeking opportunities abroad, noting that 34,500 individuals from Bharatpur Metropolitan City alone have pursued foreign employment. In the fiscal year 2079-2080, Nepal saw 771,327 individuals receiving labor approval, with Bagmati province alone accounting for 1,16,932 work permits. Chitwan, with 15,823 work permits, holds the highest number in the province and is second only to Dhanusha in national foreign employment figures.
In Chitwan, a predominant figure of 6,561 individuals from Bharatpur Metropolitan City has obtained labor approval. Likewise, labor approvals have been granted to 2,127 residents of Madi Municipality, 1,800 from Ichchakamana Rural Municipality, 1,471 from Ratnanagar Municipality, 1,679 from Kalika Municipality, 1,608 from Khairhani Municipality, and 1,291 from Rapti Municipality.
However, there is a concern about fraudulent practices in Chitwan related to foreign employment, with 60 percent of 136 applications received this year at the District Administration Office involving middlemen taking money and disappearing. Deputy Chief Chitrasen Adhikari acknowledged the illegal migration issue and emphasized the need for job creation within the country. He stressed the importance of utilizing local resources, skills, and production to address this nationwide problem.
