China may relax DFQF rules for Nepali goods
KATHMANDU:
The Chinese government may soon allow export of Nepali goods in six-digit tariff line revising the eight-digit tariff line in the Chinese market under the Duty Free Quota Free (DFQF) facility, as per the request made by Nepali delegation during the meeting of Nepal-China Joint Economic and Trade Committee that was held in Beijing last week.
“The joint team has been formed to study regarding allowing the Nepali goods under DFQF that match first six-digit tariff line set by Chinese Customs,” said Surya Prasad Acharya, joint secretary at the Ministry Finance. He had attended the joint committee meeting as the director general of the Department of Customs.
China has provided DFQF for 8,030 goods of Nepali origin but hardly 500 items have been enjoying such facility, as per Acharya, “Considering Nepal’s request, the northern neighbour may soon review its provision for Nepal.”
