Chairman of Nepal Securities Board Concludes Transformative Journey with Gratitude

The tenure of the Chairman of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Mr Ramesh Kumar Hamal which commenced on Falgun 5th, 2078, and brought forth significant reforms for the long-term economic prosperity of Nepal, concludes today on the 20th of Poush, 2080.
Throughout this transformative journey, the Chairman initiated positive reform efforts aimed at fostering Start-Up and entrepreneurship development, empowering capital formation, and strengthening SME ecosystems. The focus on creating a clean and transparent market environment through good governance, competition, and quality (Meritocracy), as well as the shift from a "Culture of Glorification" to a "Culture of Performance," has marked a new dimension in Nepal's economic landscape.
Hamal, marked the conclusion of his 22-month tenure by releasing a comprehensive list of accomplishments. Hamal's focus on promoting a competitive and governance-centric environment led to improved accessibility of quality services in the securities market. Key achievements include the initiation of a specialized investment fund, submission of regulations for the SMEs platform, and securing a 10% reservation for Nepalese workers abroad. Progress in approving the commodity exchange market and a new stock exchange were also highlighted, alongside efforts for sectoral diversification in listed companies.
