CEO, GM of Jagadamba Steels arrested for forgery

BIRGUNJ, JUL 10 -
Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) of Jagadamba Steels Rosit Unninthan and General Manager (GM) Kamaljit Barma were arrested for forgery of signature, government stamp and thuggery on Monday.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP), Pitambar Adhikari, Uninthan and Barma have been accused of changing the number of the vehicle that was auctioned by the Birgunj customs department along with the charges of forgery and thuggery. SP Adhikari further said that they were acting on the statement of former Human Resource (HR) Manager Om Prakash Baitha.
Baitha had been suspended last month from the office saying that he had worked against the discipline of the office and misused the letterhead of the office.
Acting on a tip off, police had impounded a Scorpio car (Na 2 Cha 4662), which had been registered under the name of Jagadamba Steels.
It was one of the vehicles auctioned by the customs department. However, an employee of Jagadamba steels said that the vehicles were purchased legally. “All the documents from the auction to the purchase have Baitha’s signature. The company sent him to purchase the vehicle legally and not for forgery ,” he said.
“The model that was auctioned was of 2005. However, the model that the company now owns is a 2010 model. Baitha alone could not have pulled off such magnitude of forgery . Therefore, we have taken the CEO and GM into custody for further investigation,” said SP Adhikari.
Nevertheless, Unnithan and Barma claim that they have not been involved in anything illegal. “We had sent Baitha with the money needed for the auction and the whole purchase process. We have no idea about any forgery ,” SP Adhikari quoted Uninthan as saying.
