CDSC conducted awareness program at Pokhara

CDS and Clearing Ltd. (CDSC) recently on 19th August conducted an “Issuers Awareness Program” at Pokhara. The program mainly focused on educating the participants about the Central Depository System along with procedures and requirements for dematerialization
The program was attended by representatives from the NEPSE listed companies nested at Pokhara like City Development Bank, Gandaki Bikash Bank, Garima Bikash Bank, Bishwa Bikash Bank, Kamana Bikash Bank, Muktinath Bikash Bank, Shangrila Development Bank, Pokhara Finance, Om Finance, Kaski Finance. Moreover, the program was also joined by the representatives from the RTA Association as well.
Through the program, CDSC has asked the companies to dematerialize their shares and cooperative in implementing the system effectively.
Currently, not too many individual investors have opened dematerialized accounts because only few numbers of the listed firms have dematerialized shares. The CDSC has so far a total of 419 demat accounts opened by investors, which hold a paltry 6561 units of securities. At present only 15 companies are registered in the CDSC.
