A statement issued yesterday by the Nepal Bankers Association, Development Bankers Association Nepal, and Nepal Financial Institutions Nepal has restarted charging customers with a certain fee if they withdraw cash from a third-party bank's ATM.

In order to prevent human movement during the lockdown, they had allowed customers to withdraw cash from their nearest ATM without any service fee irrespective of the bank that owned the ATM.

However, citing that the lockdown is almost over and human movement is back to normal, the new notice issued yesterday has now made third-party ATM service available only with a service fee. Also, the statement claims that this won't be a problem since almost all the branches of banks are fully operational now.

The banks can independently decide the amount it wants to charge on customers of other banks as the service fee if they decide to use their ATM.

Third-party ATM service was made free from Chaitra 7 of last year, a few days before the nationwide lockdown due to the Corona pandemic.
