'Buddha Boy’ Ramlal Bamjan Arrested on Serious Charges; CIB Reveals Shocking Findings in Budhanilkantha Raid

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has brought to light disturbing allegations against Ramlal Bamjan, popularly known as Ram Bahadur Bamjan or the 'Buddha Boy,’ following his arrest on Tuesday evening from his residence in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.
According to CIB Chief, Additional Inspector General of Police Kiran Bajracharya, Bamjan is facing charges of sexual harassment, pedophilia, and the forced disappearance of individuals. The arrest was made in response to a complaint filed by a 22-year-old woman who had been a disciple in Bamjan's ashram in Halkhoriya, Bara, since 2071.
During the raid on Bamjan's residence, the police uncovered a significant amount of evidence. Foreign currencies from 17 different countries were seized, totaling Rs 30.92 Lakhs, along with Nepali rupees amounting to Rs. 3.03 Crores. Authorities also confiscated 14 mobile phones, four laptops and tablets, 20 pen drives, and various other electronic devices.
The charges against Bamjan prompted the Sarlahi District Court to issue an arrest warrant on Magh 23, 2076. CIB had also received a tip regarding Bamjan's illegal accumulation of foreign and Nepali currencies, leading to the extensive search and subsequent arrest.
During the arrest, Bamjan attempted to escape by jumping from a window on the south face of the fourth story of his house, as reported by CIB Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari.
The investigation is now expanding to probe complaints related to individuals who are reported to have mysteriously disappeared from Bamjan's ashram. Authorities are working to shed light on these cases and ensure justice is served.
The 'Buddha Boy’, aged 34, had gained notoriety for his self-proclaimed spiritual status, and this arrest has sent shockwaves through the community. The case is expected to unfold as the police delve deeper into the allegations, with Bamjan set to face the legal consequences of his actions.
