British Council Awards 12 Gender-Focused Arts Grants Across Nepal

The British Council has awarded 12 Gender-Focused Arts Grants to artists, collectives, and organisations across Nepal under its Equal Together initiative, supporting creative projects that promote gender equality and amplify underrepresented voices. The grants, totaling NPR 84,82,700, were awarded to eight individual artists and four organisations, with funding ranging from NPR 600,000 to NPR 1,000,000. Alongside financial support, grantees will receive mentorship from industry experts to strengthen creative development and public engagement.

During the January–June 2026 grant period, the supported projects will produce diverse outputs nationwide, including comics, films, theatre, community art walks, children’s books, stand-up comedy, and cultural documentation initiatives. Selected through a competitive and participatory process involving over 180 applications, the projects reflect a wide range of creative approaches and community engagement. The British Council stated that the programme highlights the power of arts and culture to spark dialogue, challenge inequalities, and foster inclusion across Nepal.
