Brahmanda Investment Group Eyes Diversification After Beni Khola IPO
Brahmanda Investment Group (BIG) Pvt. Ltd., a Nepal-based investment company is looking to expand beyond hydropower after one of its portfolio companies, Beni Hydropower Project Ltd., completed its initial public offering (IPO).
The IPO of Beni Khola, which operates a 19.8 MW run of river project in Solukhumbu, received applications from more that 2.3 million people and was oversubscribed by over 30.55 times. A total of 86,320 applicants were allotted shares.
Beni Khola reported a net profit of Rs.15.56 crore in the last fiscal year after posting losses for two consecutive years. The company has investments in three hydropower ventures.

BIG, founded in 2013 by Captain Prithvi Raj Rai and other Nepali servicemen and professionals, has more than 167 shareholders, many of whom are based overseas. The company has investments in three hydropower ventures.
Its other investments include the 3.2 MW Gelun Khola Hydropower project in Sindhupalchowk, which is now operational and supplying electricity to the Nepal Electricity Authority, and the 64 MW Upper Nyasem & Nyasem A project, which has secured a power purchase agreement with the NEA and is undergoing financial closure.
Chewan Rai, who became BIG’s CEO in April 2026, said the company plans to diversify its investments into hospitality, education and tourism

BIG aims to establish itself as a prominent investment company in Nepal within the next three years and plans to pursue a public listing of its own within five years.
Investment company Brahmanda Investment Group (BIG) is celebrating a milestone this month, as one of its portfolio firms, Beni Hydropower Project Ltd., completes its listing on the stock market following a hugely oversubscribed IPO.
