BPCL profit grows by 30.39% while adverse weather condition stems Chilime's profit growth to 3.85%

Chilime Hydropower Company Limited has reported a marginal growth of 3.85 percent whereas Butwal Power Company Limited reported 30.39 percent growth in the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2070/71.

According to its unaudited balance sheet for the third quarter published today, Chilime, one of the blue-chip companies, has stated that it earned a net profit of Rs 71.67 crore in the third quarter, up from Rs 69.01 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal year.

Chilime’s growth is attributable to its operational profit that rose to Rs 79.54 crore from Rs 77.02 crore in the corresponding quarter. The company has clarified that it could not post the desired growth in the third quarter due to adverse weather conditions.

Chilime has also informed that 30 percent bonus shares offered to the shareholders from the net profit it earned in the last fiscal year has been capitalized in the balance sheet and that the cash dividend has been shown in the provision.

It has also deducted Rs 7.95 crore as depreciation in the balance sheet.

Chilime had reported a modest growth of 5.35 percent in the second quarter.

Chilime has also notified that the profit it has earned by the end of the third quarter will be invested in its subsidiary companies such as Sajen, Mid Bhotekoshi and Rasuwagadi hydropower.

Likewise, Butwal Power published that it earned a net profit of Rs 45.44 crore from Rs 34.85 crore in the third quarter.  Even though there is slight decrease in the operational profit from Rs 25.6 crore to Rs 22.07 crore the net profit is mainly accompanied by rise in other incomes from Rs 25.96 crore to Rs 41.3 crore.

Its EPS of Chilime (annualized) now stands at Rs 63.11, P/E ratio at 38.57, and its net worth per share is priced at Rs 292.39. Similarly, EPS of Butwal Power is Rs 44.77, P/E ratio at 17.87 and the net worth per share is Rs 273.
