Book on Gulf Economic and Diplomatic Transformation “Beyond Oil” Set for Publication
A new book titled “Beyond Oil: Economic Miracle of the Gulf” is set to be published, documenting the rapid economic, social, and diplomatic progress of Gulf countries. The author, Mohammed Ramzan Ali Miya, who has spent over two decades in Qatar studying Gulf history, culture, and development, aims to present lesser-known aspects of the region beyond its oil-based identity.
At the pre-launch event, Miya highlighted how Gulf nations such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait have become influential not only economically but also in global diplomacy and conflict mediation. He also emphasized the leadership roles of figures like the Emir of Qatar and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The book draws on Miya’s extensive experience and research, including his work related to migrant workers’ rights and education in Nepal and Qatar. Speakers at the event praised the book as a comprehensive reference on the Gulf region that could serve academic and diplomatic audiences. The publication is expected within two months.
