BoK’s good beginning of the year: Net profit jumps 36% in first quarter

The first quarterly report of the Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) has suggested a good beginning of the bank in the current fiscal year 2071/72 as its net profit jumped 35.73 percent in the first quarter of the current year.

Publishing the unaudited financial statement of the first quarter today, the bank stated that its net profit surged to Rs 16.59 crore in the first quarter, up from Rs 12.21 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year 2070/71.

Its net interest income also went up to Rs 34.84 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal year from Rs 29.09 crore in the same period of last fiscal year.

The bank mobilized a total of Rs 34.38 arba on deposit and Rs 28.91 arba on loans in the first quarter of the current fiscal year compared to Rs 27.78 arba on deposit and Rs 24.07 arba on loans in the corresponding period last year.

The non-performing loan (NPL) of the bank is 1.16 percent, marginally down from 1.43 percent in the corresponding period last year.

EPS (annualized) of BoK stands at Rs 31.29 and net worth per share is at Rs 178.46.  Likewise, the annualized price earning (P/E ratio) of the bank remains 18.02 times.
