Birgunj customs collects revenue 3pc less of target

BIRGUNJ,  March 28:

The Birgunj Customs Office, Nepal´s major revenue collection center has collected revenue 3 percent less than target in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2070- 71 BS.

It raised Rs. 50.06 billion revenue against a target of 51.26 billion which is 2.33 percent less.

It raised Rs. 19.49 billion in customs and 21.75 billion in Value Added Tax, Rs. 9.17 billion in excise, said the office.

Major imports from the point are petrol, high speed diesel, HR sheet, ready made garments, cosmetics and vehicles, and the import was less, said Chief of the Office Ramhari Aryal.

Although less than target, it is Rs. 6.51 billion more than the same period last year.
