Bharatpur Hospital Tops Nepal’s Federal Hospitals in Service Quality Assessment

Bharatpur Hospital has emerged as the best-performing federal hospital in Nepal after securing the highest score in the latest Minimum Service Standards (MSS) evaluation conducted by the Quality Measurement and Regulation Division under Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population. The hospital achieved an impressive 89 points, maintaining its position as the country’s leading federal hospital in service quality.

According to the recent monitoring and assessment, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan secured second position with 77 points, while Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences ranked third with 71 points. The assessment of Patan Hospital is currently still underway.

Dr. Shriram Tiwari, Coordinator of the Quality Measurement and Regulation Division, stated that Bharatpur Hospital has demonstrated exceptional service delivery performance among the 14 federal hospitals operating across the country.

To ensure quality healthcare standards, the Ministry has developed and tested a comprehensive 1,497 service quality indicators that evaluate hospital performance, patient care, management efficiency, and overall healthcare delivery systems.

Notably, Bharatpur Hospital had also secured the top position last year with 88 points, and this year the hospital has further improved its performance by scoring 89 points, reflecting its continuous commitment to strengthening healthcare services.

Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Bishwa Bandhu Bagale expressed satisfaction over the achievement, stating that the hospital has significantly enhanced service quality this fiscal year compared to previous years and remains committed to delivering better healthcare services to patients.

The recognition further establishes Bharatpur Hospital as a leading example of quality healthcare service delivery in Nepal’s public health sector.
