Bank of Kathmandu youth campaign

KATHMANDU:

The ‘Financial Education’ campaign, a joint initiative of Bank of Kathmandu and Save the Children under the Youth Save project, has reached about 15,000 youths across the country. The campaign, aimed to promote saving habits and enhance banking awareness amongst youth and children from low income sector who were previously excluded from formal financial channels, was launched in 2011. The bank has been implementing the programme from its 21 branches to youths and children from nearby community schools, colleges, youth clubs and community centres. It has further plans to expand such activities in other parts of the country covered by its branch network stated CEO of the bank Ajay Shrestha. To help youths in translating such theoretical knowledge into practice, the bank also offers ‘BoK Chetanshil Yuwa Bachat Yojana’, a savings product including a free piggy bank from all of its 50 branches.
