Banda cripples life for second consecutive day
KATHMANDU, MAY 11 -
Normal life has been crippled for the second consecutive day nationwide including the valley on Friday due to the banda called by Brahman Chhetri Samaj protesting against ethnicity-based federalism.
The United Struggle Committee comprising the Chhetri Samaj, Brahman Samaj, Thakuri Samaj, Dashnami Samaj, Dalit Janajagaran Sewa Sangh, Bibedh Mukti Pragatishil Samaj, Khas Chhetri Ekata Samaj and Federation of Marginalised Group called banda for two days.
The front criticised ethnicity-based federalism as a conspiracy of some NGOs, INGOs and political leaders.
Entire market areas, academic institutions have been shut down and transportation has come to a grinding halt due to the banda.
