AWRC directs to begin west Seti Hydro Project

KATHMANDU, Oct 19:
The Agriculture and Water Resources Committee (AWRC) under the Legislature-Parliament has directed the Ministry of Energy and Investment Board to begin the construction work of the West Seti Hydropower Project.
The committee meeting held at Singhdurbar today issue such directives to the Ministry and Board, reasoning that the development process of the project began long ago but has not translated into effective construction work so far.
The project has the capacity of generating 750 mega watt power and the Subsidiary Company of the Three Gorges company of China had agreed to construct the project.
The committee Chair Gagan Kumar Thapa informed that the committee directed the Energy Ministry and Investment Board to begin the construction work and to report the activities and progress about the project.
Similarly, the committee directed these bodies to report the progress achieved so far about power development agreement (PDA) to be done with the Sutlej Electricity Corporation, Promoter Company of the Arun III Hydropower Project.
While speaking in the meeting today, lawmakers complained over the delay of completing the construction work of hydro project at Kaveli Corridor where 90 kilometers transmission line of 132 kv power from Damak to Kaveli is under construction.
