Aryal, Shrestha, Thapaliya recommended for NEPSE GM
ShareSansar, June 16
NEPSE’s Board of Directors has recommended three names for the position of General Manager at the exchange. The names were selected through an open competition as the exchange had called on the eligible candidates to apply for the post.
The names were finalized on Friday and would be submitted by the Finance Ministry on Sunday to the meeting of Council of Ministers, which would pick one name among the three to lead the NEPSE.
The three names include Dr Dilli Raj Aryal, a government assistant secretary, Shanker Man Shrestha, a former General Manager of the exchange, and Sitaram Thapaliya, a share investor.
In judging the candidates, the board had allotted 60 marks for business plan, 30 for presentation and 10 for educational qualification. While business plan is evaluated by three experts related to the subject matter, interview is conducted in the presence of the chairman of the Public Service Commission.
Aryal has a PhD in statistics and has been currently serving at the Ministry of Finance. Second in the list, Shrestha had been working at the Chamber of Commerce. Thapaliya, on the other hand, is a Director at Agricultural Development Bank and is known for leading the general investors.
The absence of an executive head at the NEPSE for a long time has affected important tasks at the exchange. Similarly, share brokers have been suffering due to the lack of coordination between NEPSE and CDSC.
