Arniko Highway that had remained totally disconnected for more than three weeks due to the massive landslide at Jure of Mankha VDC, came into use from today.

“A new track was opened alongside the flooded river with the initiative of district entrepreneurs and the track came into use from today,” said Bishnu Khatri, coordinator of the track construction committee.

Around 2.5 km road was swept away by the disaster on August 16.

Sindhupalchowk Chambers of Commerce, Nepal Himalaya Simapar Banijya Sangh and Nepal Truck Container Entrepreneurs’ Association jointly contributed to opening the trail.

Sindhupalchowk Chief District Officer Gopal Prasad Parajuli said the track was being upgraded. He also informed that the track would be ready for light vehicles from tomorrow. A total of Rs 7 million was spent on the road.

Meanwhile, Nepali Army had also started to construct the Lamosanghu-Sunkoshi-Dam-Dhuskun-Sunkoshi track. However, they have been able to open only 1.5 km of the track.

According to CDO Parajuli, the construction work has been expedited in such a way that the track will be ready for use by the next two weeks.

As many as 14 VDCs of the district had gone out of reach due to disruption of transportation in the wake of the flood.
